The Beginning

  crucifexandbible.JPG

   Educating students has always been a priority of The Church of Saint Anne.  The entire parish was founded because of a need for more church and school space.

   In 1955, Saint Mary's Parish was over crowding their church and school facilities.  Parishoners decided that another parish might be necessary.

   With the help of Msgr. Robert Freehan and Bishop Lambert Hoch, a piece of land donated by T. Clem Casey at 13th Street and Braman Avenue became Father Arnold Spain's first parish, The Church of Saint Anne.

   Saint Anne Catholic School was founded in 1957 and staffed by the School Sisters of Notre Dame and lay teachers.  Educating students has always been a priority of The Church of Saint Anne.  The original school was opened with 8 classrooms and a cafeteria.  The first year 307 students were taught in our parish.  This included 235 students at Saint Annne School and 72 students at Saint Joseph School, formerly Saint Mary's MIssion, which was a branch of Saint Mary's Grade School.  Saint Joseph was later closed and those students attended Saint Anne School.

   In 1988 former facilities were renovated to accommodate the kindergarten and Early Childhood Center.

   An addition of the multipurpose room and computer lab occurred in 1980.

Mission Statement

We, the parish family of Saint Anne, committed to live in faithful relationship to God, and to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, the risen savior of all.  We are Catholics who see ourselves as living witnesses to Christ's presence in our society.  United in this belief, we are called:

  • to be a loving and worshiping community;
  • to provide educational opportunities for all; and,
  • to enable each member to use their unique gifts and talents for the service of others.
Philosophy

   Saint Anne School believes in a faith filled Catholic atmosphere which acknowledges Christ as a foundation of the school and of the personal lives of both teachers and students.  Through this enabling atmosphere and the concerted effort of the parish, parents and faculty, the students will develop spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially, and psychologically.  Thus, the Catholic school fulfill the three-fold directive of the document, TO TEACH AS JESUS DID, to build community, promote service and proclaim the message.
